THE FILM
EVENT OF THE YEAR, THE DARK KNIGHT,
IS COMING TO THE OMNI IMAX THEATER! |
 |
The second-highest grossing film of all time is coming to Fort Worth in IMAX!
The Dark Knight: The IMAX Experience will open
January 23, 2009, in the Omni Theater as part of a national re-release of the blockbuster film in anticipation of The
Academy® Awards. The follow-up to the action hit
Batman Begins,
The Dark Knight reunites director Christopher Nolan and star Christian Bale, who reprises the role of Batman/Bruce Wayne in his continuing war on crime.
The Dark Knight features six sequences filmed with
IMAX® cameras, including the opening six minutes. This is the first time that a major feature film has been even partially shot using IMAX cameras, marking a revolutionary integration of the two film formats. The film originally opened to both commercial 35mm and IMAX theatres last July and quickly garnered financial and critical success.
The Dark Knight will show evenings through March 5. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for children/seniors; Members receive
a $2-3 discount, depending on membership level. Buy advance tickets now
online, by phone at
817-255-9540, or in person.
The Dark Knight: The IMAX Experience is rated PG-13 by the MPAA for
"intense sequences of violence and some
menace." Children under 13 will not be admitted unless accompanied by a parent or guardian. The Museum strongly encourages parents to use discretion before bringing children under 13 to this movie. |

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
With less than a year remaining before the Museum’s new facility opens its doors, the construction site is a beehive of activity! In December, crews worked to install one of the most dramatic architectural features of the facility: the glass panels of the 77-foot-tall Urban Lantern, the main entrance to the Museum.
Here’s what else you can expect to see in the next few months:
- In January, construction crews will undertake one of the Museum’s most dramatic installations as a crane hoists a pre-assembled 25-ton Noble Planetarium dome into place on the south end of the facility.
|
 |
- Construction crews will spend most of January and February working to complete the west façade of the facility – visible to pedestrians and motorists on Montgomery Street. That work will likely be completed by the end of February, marking a milestone: the first finished façade of the main Museum structure.
- Work on the exterior brick, stone and tile will continue through the spring and summer.
- The interior of the Museum is also rapidly taking shape as crews frame and partition the facility from the Museum School on the north end and
continue south.
